Tips to Write Dissertation in APA Citation

Tips to Write Dissertation
Depending upon your field, you might front-load most of your research into an early chapter of the thesis. You might include sources throughout the entirety of the document. Either way, you’re likely to need to keep track of many different citations. The APA style guide has a specific format for dissertation, so you should be aware of this format if you are writing an APA paper. There are other details to keep in mind concerning how to write an effective dissertation. APA Style CENTRAL has been developed for academic institutions by the American Psychological Association, the creator of an authority on APA Style. APA is one of the most popular styles for psychology, education and other social sciences.
  1. Left Margin: One and one-half inches for all pages.
  2. Right Margin: One and one-half inches for all pages, with no intrusion of letters or anything else into the right margin.
  3. Top Margin: One-and-one-quarter inches for all pages except the first page of the Acknowledgments, Table of Contents, List of Tables, List of Figures, each chapter, Bibliography, and Appendices which should begin two inches from the top edge of the page.
  4. Bottom Margin: One-and-one-quarter inches for all pages. Page numbers for all pages preceding page 1 of Chapter I should be placed three-quarters of an inch from the bottom of the page, centered between the left and right margins.

Page numbers from page 1 of Chapter I through the last page of the last appendix should be placed three-quarters of an inch from the top or bottom, centered between the left and right margins. It’s a good idea to present data visually, in a table. For humanities theses, photographs and drawings are frequently included. When possible, paraphrase rather than quoting. Take help from PhD dissertation writing services if you feel stuck. Avoid very long quotes. Do not use quotation marks to enclose block quotations. Start your reference list on the page following the end of your paper. “References” should be centered at the top of the page. Entries should be arranged alphabetically by the author’s last name.

How to Use Cover Page and Keywords: Keywords are words that describe the topics covered in the thesis. Each student chooses keywords for categorization. One to five terms of one to three words is the range of common practice. Keywords can be listed directly before or directly after, the abstract. The abstract is a short passage that appears just before the introduction to the thesis and is required along with recommended keywords.

Running Head: The running head is an abbreviated title, max 50 characters. It should be flush left in all uppercase letters at the top of the title page and all subsequent pages. On the title page it should be preceded by the words “Running Head:”. Title: The recommended length for a title is no more than 12 words. The title should be typed in upper and lowercase letters, centered between the left and right margins, and positioned in the upper half of the page. This will ensure the completion of your thesis.
